History: | Named for the Crow Indians who lived at the summit. Reportedly the Crows were being attacked by a band of Sioux Indians who were camped at the base of this mountain on three sides. The fourth side was unclimbable in ascent or descent. Realizing they were trapped, when nightfall came the Crows killed their horses, made ropes from pieces of the horse hides, and decended the fourth side of the mountain undetected. (SD-T17/p394) |
